Do your child continuously play 3D games? How much time they spend a day playing 3D games? Did you notice any changes in your child after they started playing 3D games?
What are 3D games?
When a game looks real when played on any electronic devices, where the video can rotate by 360 degrees and there is lot of rich media and sound effects is a 3D game.
Why should we notice any changes in a child for playing 3D game?
Well, sounds an interesting question! Let me tell you, because of playing 3D game continuously for any extent beyond 10 minutes, there is a vibration created in the human brain due to visual and sound effects which starts flowing at a very high rate and it causes blood pressure in the body to increase sharply. Due to the vibration created, the brain gets heated up very fast. Playing video games for quite few days and continuously, the child can develop hyperactivity or attention disruption.
Now let’s look at it from live case scenario
Vikrant Kapoor and his wife, Kavita Kapoor’s only son, Vishal Kapoor is 6 years old when he got a new 3D video game at home. Due to the pandemic, he is stuck at home and due to not able to do any activities, he got this new game gifted from his parents. He is loving his new game and spends 3-5 hours per day on an average playing it.
“Vishal! Vishal! Take your bath. It’s too late and you haven’t taken your breakfast”, Kavita shouted.
No response from other side.
“Vishal, I want you to shut the computer and go for bath and have your breakfast. It’s 10:30 now and since morning you dove inside the game. I will throw the computer away if you don’t switch it off right now!”
“Why you always shout on me , Maa? What should I do then?” screamed the 6 year old tempered Vishal.
“You have gone beyond your limits in this age!” Kavita shouted. “I am going to report this to your Papa. You always shout on me! You don’t listen to me! You don’t study! Your class teacher is always complaining! Always behind the same game. We shouldn’t have bought this one now!”
Kavita complained to Vikrant who is working from office as he has to regularly confront customers or clients. Hearing Kavita screaming about their son, he felt over stressed and that reflected in his face too. He felt hurt about what their son is doing and that he can’t control the situation in his hands.
Returning home that evening, he sat down with his son trying to explain that he should give his attention to studies rather than the game. Else he will forget what he learnt till now and his class teacher will be very angry.
Vishal won’t listen because that is the only thing he finds interesting. He don’t like to sit in a particular place for few minutes and don’t like to attend online classes. He is slowly getting hyperactive and impatient. He is also not able to focus on his studies and missing out on home works too.
Teacher too started complaining Kavita and Vikrant that Vishal is getting inattentive in classes and not doing the class work or home work properly.
One day, Vikrant and Kavita decided that they will uninstall the game from the computer. Not able to find out the game, Vishal started throwing tantrums and he is not wanting to listen to his parents. Seeing him yelling and crying so much and for hours, both parents decided to ignore his tantrum and left him shout and scream. At last the child after being exhausted, slowed down and felt asleep.
If we go back to the days when Vikrant and Kavita bought the 3D video game, situation started to take the wrong turn, though it was not an intention of the parents to disrupt Vishal’s brain growth. They purchased the game from their love but the same created a negative impact.
So, next time before you purchase any 3D video games for your child, you need to keep in mind that children below 12 years of age should not be introduced to these games as their brain is not matured enough to be resilent and can affect their cognitive development in an early age.
