Managing sibling rivalry between children
Managing rivalry between 2 or more children is a great challenge that you might not have thought of earlier. It becomes very difficult to manage sibling rivalry between brother and sister, no matter how much childish it might be; but they are children and they will react at the level of their age group.
Children will turn rival within fraction of a second and before you try to intervene, they may even start fighting and shouting at each other. Even before you understand who’s wrong and who’s innocent or right, the situation can take a boiling point. You may think of rushing to another room and shut doors to get relieved of such traumatic situations but you can’t because if you don’t intervene, then who will?
The main reason of sibling rivalry is jealousy and competition one feels upon another. It is a great challenge and a huge responsibility of Parents to make children understand that they need to help each other and be at each other’s side, whatever situation it may be. When the boiling situation calms down, which may differ between children and may range from few minutes to couple of days, parents need to sit and discuss their responsibilities towards each other. It might seem that your time in making your children understand about their duty and responsibility went in vain, but your lesson has entered into their inner-self. It might be possible that you will not notice any improvement during their growing up stage, but eventually, they will understand their mistakes when they grow up, become responsible and matured. It is highly suggested that Parents need not compliment one child and criticise other infront of each other, else situation may even go worse to worst.
Over and above, balancing work life with home life and children can become very daunting but this increases your mental will power and self confidence to handle multiple things simultaneously. You should feel good of yourself if you can manage such!
